Planning permission has been granted for a development that will see 42 new homes built in Blyth.

Site preparation is underway on the land located in the Newsham area of the town, which was formerly a disused farm and construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks.

North Farm, as the new development will be known, represents a £9 million investment and will deliver two to four bedroomed houses and bungalows constructed by Linden Homes.  The first are expected to be released for sale in October 2017.

Tracy Iles, Sales Director, said: “Following successful schemes in Birtley, Gateshead and Morpeth, we are delighted to be beginning work on a range of new homes that will offer a step change in the choice and quality of housing in Blyth.

“Becoming an established name in the region, Linden Homes’ growth continues and we have ambitious plans to deliver 300 new homes on seven sites across the North East over the coming year.

“This project will also open up job and training opportunities in the area and provide work for suppliers to the construction industry.”
